FMA New Zealand Warns About Recovery Scams Targeting Previous Investment Victims

23 hours ago BrokersView

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) of New Zealand has issued a warning regarding recovery scams that exploit individuals who have previously lost money to investment fraud. These scams use phishing tactics to gain access to victims’ bank accounts under the guise of helping recover lost funds.

Scammers typically contact victims via phone calls or emails, claiming that previously lost funds have been recovered. Victims are directed to websites where they are asked to “sign up” for access to these funds. These sites often request personal information, including banking usernames and passwords, and may display NZ banking logos to appear credible. Once obtained, this information allows scammers to access the victim’s bank account and transfer funds.

BrokersView advises the public to remain vigilant. Genuine recovery organisations will never pressure you to act immediately or ask for sensitive banking information. Before sharing any personal or financial details, verify the legitimacy of the organisation, seek independent advice, and report suspicious activity to your bank. Victims should also exercise caution when posting about scams online, as scammers monitor social media to identify potential targets.

The FMA has confirmed the following entities and websites are associated with this recovery scam. Extreme caution is advised when dealing with any of the listed entities:
