FINMA Issues New Warning Over Phishing Emails Impersonating Its Employees

Jun 30, 2025 BrokersView

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has issued a renewed public warning about increasing phishing emails falsely purporting to originate from FINMA employees, including fraudulent senders claiming to be members of FINMA’s Board of Directors or the Executive Board.

The regulator confirmed it does not send unsolicited emails to private individuals and is never involved in procedures or offers to allegedly recover financial losses. Official FINMA correspondence is sent from email addresses ending in “@finma.ch”.

FINMA has urged the public to exercise vigilance and verify sender addresses when receiving unexpected emails. Individuals are strongly advised not to respond to such suspicious emails, not to follow any instructions, and not to click on embedded links in the emails.

FINMA previously issued a similar warning in November 2024. The new warning highlights the persistence of such phishing scams involving impersonation.
