A WhatsApp group named Piggy Vest Investment is falsely claiming to double investments within one hour. Despite the name, the group has no affiliation with PiggyVest, the legitimate Nigerian savings and investment platform.
PiggyVest confirmed it does not operate WhatsApp investment groups, has no agents on messaging apps, and never guarantees unrealistic returns.
The scam is led by a woman known as “Grace,” who solicits payments via a personal First City Monument Bank account under the name of Ajakaye Rebecca. Upon joining the group, potential victims receive direct messages from “Grace,” offering to double deposits ranging from ₦10,000 to ₦50,000 in less than an hour.
Victims receive fake registration images and a screenshot mimicking an Opay account. No legitimate onboarding process occurs.
“Grace” also circulates testimonial videos featuring individuals praising an unnamed platform as “real” and “paying.” However, none of the clips mentions PiggyVest directly. Investigations reveal that these videos have been recycled from previous scams.
The scheme follows a common scam pattern: brand impersonation, unrealistic promises, recycled promotional content, and funds collection through personal bank accounts.
Investors should verify investment offers directly via official websites or apps and avoid any scheme promising fast returns.
Investment scams continue to thrive across social media and messaging platforms, targeting unsuspecting global traders. In early August, Meta reported the removal of over 6.8 million WhatsApp accounts tied to fraudulent activity in the first half of 2025.
