Consob Blocks Six Unauthorised Investment and Crypto-Asset Websites

Jul 13, 2026 BrokersView

Italy’s financial regulator Consob has ordered the blocking of six websites suspected of illegally offering investment services and crypto-asset activities to Italian investors.

The regulator said four websites were providing unauthorised investment services involving financial instruments, while two others were offering crypto-asset-related services without the required authorisation under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR).

The latest action brings the total number of websites blocked by Consob since July 2019, when the authority was granted powers to shut down websites operated by unauthorised financial intermediaries, to 1,769. Among them, 219 websites were related to crypto-asset activities.

Consob warned that online investment fraud schemes are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with scammers using cloned websites, fake identities, social media impersonation and AI-generated content to attract investors and steal funds or personal information.

The regulator reminded investors to verify whether investment firms and crypto-asset service providers are authorised before committing funds, and to check whether required documents, including prospectuses or crypto-asset white papers, have been published.
