The Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) has issued a formal warning regarding a number of online platforms and entities that are operating without proper authorisation to provide investment services or financial products. These unregistered institutions include GVD COINS, POWER TRADES, TERRA X, VASSET MANAGEMENT, TRADEGAIA, and TRADING 2I2 ESPAÑA. Several of these platforms have been promoted actively through WhatsApp groups, a method increasingly used by fraudsters to reach retail investors.
According to the CNMV, none of the entities mentioned above appear in the official registry of authorised investment service providers. As such, they are not legally permitted to offer investment products, manage client funds, or conduct other regulated financial activities within Spain. Investors engaging with these unregistered entities risk losing their money, as there are no regulatory safeguards or supervision in place to protect them.
The CNMV advises individuals to exercise extreme caution when approached with investment opportunities, especially if promoted through social media channels or messaging apps such as WhatsApp. Fraudsters often promise high returns, exclusive access to financial products, or early participation in crypto or trading schemes. They may also create a sense of urgency or exclusivity to encourage immediate investment, sometimes using fake testimonials, misleading marketing, or impersonating legitimate companies.
This warning highlights a growing trend in which unregulated platforms exploit messaging apps and social media to reach potential investors. Investors are reminded that any financial institution operating in Spain must be registered with CNMV and comply with all regulatory requirements before offering services. Failure to do so constitutes illegal activity and exposes investors to significant risk. Retail investors are encouraged to remain vigilant, question unusual offers, and prioritize companies with a verified regulatory presence to avoid falling victim to financial scams.
