OPENFX Review Overview

In this OPENFX review, we analyze the platform's regulatory standing, trading fees, and execution speeds to assist your decision-making. Our detailed breakdown covers everything from platform features to account security, helping you determine: is OPENFX a good broker?

Is OPENFX Legit and Safe?

OPENFX is a Belarusian-registered broker overseen by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB), meaning it lacks the security and tier-1 regulatory backing found with major global brokers [1.4.4, 2.1.1].

OPENFX review

What Is OPENFX? Company Background

OpenFX (operated by "Open Investments" LLC) is an online financial brokerage company established in 2016 with its headquarters located in Minsk, Belarus [1.4.4, 2.1.1, 2.1.3]. Operating primarily as a foreign exchange and contract for difference (CFD) broker, the company originally targeted retail traders in Eastern Europe and parts of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) [2.1.1, 2.1.3]. For several years, it provided online trading infrastructure, focusing on currencies, commodities, and stock indices [2.1.3].

However, the broker’s long-term operational viability has come under severe scrutiny in recent years. Industry databases and user reports indicate that OpenFX's official website (en.openfx.by) has ceased operations, suggesting that the broker has either shut down its retail services or is no longer functioning as an open, public platform [2.1.2, 2.1.5]. Furthermore, physical on-site inspections of their registered address in Minsk by independent audit services failed to verify any active office or brand presence, adding to concerns that OpenFX may now be a defunct or highly suspicious entity [2.1.5].

OPENFX Regulation

The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus regulates OPENFX [2.1.1]. This regulator is classified as a lower-tier authority with less stringent supervision compared to major financial bodies. You can check the NBRB official website to verify OPENFX's license status. In order to check their authorization independently, you can search the registry of forex companies using their registration number 192612632 [1.4.4, 2.1.1].

The table below details OPENFX's regulatory registry, licensing information, and corresponding trader protections across its operating entities.

Entity NameRegulatorLicense NumberRegulatory TierInvestor Protection
Open Investments LLCNational Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB)192612632Tier 3 (Local / Non-global)No negative balance protection, no deposit compensation scheme

Since OPENFX is only regulated by a lower-tier authority, clients will not benefit from critical safety measures like negative balance protection or government-backed compensation schemes [2.1.1].

Which OPENFX Entity Serves Your Region?

Because OPENFX operates through a single legal entity registered in Belarus, all clients—regardless of their geographical location—are onboarded under the regulations of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) [2.1.1, 2.1.3]. This uniform onboarding model creates significant challenges and risks for international traders:

  • Onboarding is governed strictly by Belarusian financial laws, meaning that non-resident traders have very limited legal recourse in the event of a dispute [1.4.4].
  • Investor protection mechanisms are virtually non-existent for foreign clients, as the NBRB's regulatory mandate focuses primarily on local market stability rather than protecting retail depositors abroad.
  • Unlike brokers holding licenses with major European or Australian bodies, OPENFX does not offer passported services, meaning your capital is held under a regional framework that lacks global compliance standards.

Restricted Countries

Due to its restricted regulatory scope, OPENFX cannot legally market its services or onboard retail clients from several major financial jurisdictions. The local regulatory limitations of its NBRB license prevent it from obtaining the necessary passporting rights required to operate globally.

  • Restricted jurisdictions include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, members of the European Union, Australia, and Japan [1.1.9, 2.2.3].
  • Local regulatory limitations prevent the broker from establishing trust with international payment providers, making onboarding highly restrictive even for residents of permitted CIS countries.

Client Fund Protection

When evaluating the security of an online broker, fund safety should be a primary concern, and OPENFX falls short of modern regulatory expectations. While tier-1 brokers must adhere to strict protection frameworks, OPENFX's regulatory environment offers very little shelter for retail capital:

  • Segmented client accounts are technically mandated under basic NBRB guidelines, but the lack of transparent, independent auditing makes it difficult to verify if client funds are genuinely isolated from the broker’s operational capital [1.4.4].
  • Negative balance protection is not offered by the broker, meaning that sudden market gaps could result in traders owing money directly to OPENFX beyond their initial deposit [2.1.1].
  • No investor compensation fund or deposit insurance scheme is available to protect clients, meaning that if the broker faces insolvency, all deposited capital is likely to be permanently lost [2.1.1].

OPENFX User Reviews and Trustpilot Rating

OPENFX holds a Trustpilot rating of 2.5/5 based on 16 reviews, reflecting mixed-to-negative user sentiment as of June 2026. While the review pool remains relatively small, the feedback provides crucial insights into how clients perceive their interactions with the platform. You can See OPENFX reviews on Trustpilot to track real-time user experiences and updates.

A closer look at the reviews reveals a distinct split in customer satisfaction:

Recurring Positive Points:

  • Many users appreciate the highly competitive pricing and cost-effective fees on their services, which are frequently cited as being lower than key competitors.
  • Several clients report quick order processing and rapid account setup times during the initial onboarding phase.
  • Customers often praise the friendliness and patience of the customer support agents, particularly when handling basic inquiries.

Recurring Complaints:

  • A major paint point highlighted by users involves discrepancies in service specifications, where clients received incorrect account details or execution settings.
  • Users frequently complain about a lack of accountability and slow resolution times when trying to resolve complex issues with customer support.
  • Some reviewers note difficulties dealing with third-party platform integrations, where the support team deflects responsibility to external service providers.

OPENFX Account Types

OPENFX offers three main account categories—Pro, Premium, and Invest—with minimum deposits starting at $500, leverage capped at 1:200, and a commission-based structure, though its higher-tier requirements and restricted trading terms limit flexibility compared to industry standards.

OPENFX Account Types and Minimum Deposit Requirements

When assessing the retail offering of OPENFX, the broker structures its accounts to appeal primarily to dedicated or higher-net-worth traders rather than casual hobbyists. Unlike many mainstream CFD brokers that offer entry barriers as low as $10, OPENFX enforces a standard entry tier starting at $500 (or equivalent in EUR or RUB). This relatively high initial deposit requirement immediately excludes traders looking to test live market conditions with minimal financial risk.

The three primary account tiers are designed with distinct leverage limits and commission scales, reflecting a clear trade-off between purchasing power and operational trading costs:

  • The Pro Account requires a minimum deposit of $500, offering 1:100 leverage and a low 0.01% round-turn commission, which suits experienced traders seeking a balance between trading costs and entry barriers.
  • The Premium Account increases the minimum deposit to $1,000 and leverage to 1:200 while charging a 0.03% round-turn commission, making it geared toward well-funded, active traders who prioritize leverage over rock-bottom fees.
  • The Invest Account demands a $1,000 minimum deposit and caps leverage at 1:200 with a higher 0.13% commission, positioning it strictly for longer-term portfolio strategies rather than active day trading.

In practice, the broker uses variable spreads that start from 0.0 pips across all account categories, which sounds highly competitive on paper. However, because commission charges are added to every round-turn trade, the real cost of trading can escalate quickly. Furthermore, margin requirements are tightly managed; the broker utilizes a margin call level of 50% and a strict stop-out level of 30%, which requires traders to maintain ample account buffers. Importantly, popular algorithmic and high-frequency trading strategies—such as hedging and scalping—are strictly prohibited by the broker, severely limiting the operational utility of these accounts for modern traders.

Does OPENFX Offer an Islamic Account?

OPENFX does not offer Sharia-compliant Islamic (swap-free) accounts for traders of the Muslim faith. All available trading accounts are subject to standard daily overnight charges (swaps), meaning any position held open past the daily market close will automatically accumulate interest credits or debits depending on the underlying currency pair. Given this lack of swap-free alternatives, Sharia-compliant traders must close all active market positions before the end of the trading day to avoid incurring swap fees.

OPENFX Fees and Trading Costs

OPENFX sits in the mid-to-high pricing range compared to other retail CFD brokers, offering tight spreads from 0.0 pips but charging round-turn commissions from 0.01% to 0.13% alongside deposit and withdrawal fees.

OPENFX Trading Fees (Spreads / Commission Fees / Swap and Overnight Fees)

Trading costs on OPENFX are heavily dependent on the chosen account type, creating a distinct fee structure for different styles of trading. Although the broker markets raw spreads that start from 0.0 pips, retail clients must factor in the direct commission charges that accompany every transaction:

  • The commission on the Pro Account is 0.01% round-turn, which translates to a highly competitive cost for high-volume traders who can earn the $500 minimum deposit.
  • The Premium Account carries a 0.03% round-turn commission, which increases overall transaction costs but grants access to higher leverage limits up to 1:200.
  • The Invest Account charges a high 0.13% round-turn commission, making active day trading economically unviable on this tier and forcing clients to hold positions long-term to justify the fees.

Beyond spreads and commissions, traders must also consider overnight holding costs. Because OPENFX does not offer swap-free accounts, any trading position left open past the daily market close will incur rollover or swap fees. These overnight fees are calculated based on interbank interest rate differentials and are charged directly to the account balance, which can erode profit margins on medium-to-long-term trades.

OPENFX Non-Trading Fees (Inactivity Fees / Currency Conversion Fees)

In addition to direct trading costs, OPENFX levies several administrative fees that can catch inactive or international traders off guard.

  • Currency conversion fees are applied whenever a client deposits, trades, or withdraws in a currency different from their account’s base currency (USD, EUR, or RUB). The broker converts these funds using internal exchange rates that include a built-in markup, which acts as an indirect fee.
  • Account inactivity fees are not aggressively advertised on the broker's main portals, but regulatory standards under the NBRB allow brokers to charge monthly maintenance fees on accounts left dormant for six to twelve consecutive months.

OPENFX Deposits & Withdrawals (Deposit and Withdrawal Methods / Withdrawal Speed and Minimum Limits / Deposit and Withdrawal Fees / Withdrawal Issues and User Complaints)

OPENFX's deposit and withdrawal setup is highly restrictive, supporting only bank transfers and credit cards while imposing transaction fees on both funding and payout channels. Rather than offering the vast array of e-wallets or instant payment options common among modern retail brokers, OPENFX relies entirely on traditional, slower transaction channels.

For deposits, traders can choose between bank wire transfers and credit or debit cards:

  • The minimum deposit for bank wire transfers is $100, and while OPENFX does not charge a direct fee, clients must pay all intermediary bank fees, which can delay credit times.
  • The minimum deposit for bank card transactions is $10, but these deposits are subject to a steep transaction fee of up to 2.5% of the total amount.
  • Processing times for deposits range from 5 to 20 minutes for credit/debit card transactions, whereas bank wire transfers are sluggish, taking 2 to 3 working days to reflect in the account.

For withdrawals, the limitations and costs are even more pronounced:

  • The minimum withdrawal limit via bank wire transfer is $50, and the broker automatically deducts a flat fee of $5 from the withdrawal amount, on top of any fees charged by receiving banks.
  • The minimum withdrawal limit for credit and debit cards is $10, carrying flat transaction fees that start from $5 or up to 2.5% depending on the card issuer.
  • Processing times for withdrawals are highly uncompetitive, with both card payouts and bank transfers requiring up to 5 working days to be fully completed.

These financial frictions have led to genuine user complaints on independent trading forums [2.1.2]. Experienced traders have pointed out that the combined burden of paying spreads, round-turn commissions, and transaction fees on both deposits and withdrawals makes OPENFX far more expensive than modern zero-fee competitors. This cost-heavy model, combined with slow 5-day payout speeds, remains a primary deterrent for retail participants.

OPENFX Trading Platforms, Conditions & Experience

OPENFX offers a highly restricted trading experience on the MetaTrader 4 platform, featuring limited asset classes, moderate leverage up to 1:200, and customer support channels that are currently unresponsive due to its inactive operational status.

Does OPENFX Support MT4, MT5 & Mobile Trading?

OPENFX primarily supports the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform for desktop and mobile devices, but its lack of stable MetaTrader 5 (MT5) integration or proprietary software limits modern trading accessibility. While MT4 remains a highly popular choice for retail FX traders due to its charting capabilities and automated Expert Advisors (EAs), its availability here is severely compromised:

  • MetaTrader 4 is the only verified terminal offered by the broker, meaning traders who prefer the multi-asset and advanced depth-of-market features of MetaTrader 5 will be disappointed.
  • Mobile trading is technically supported via the generic MT4 app on iOS and Android, but because the broker's website is down, downloading the necessary custom server configurations is currently impossible.
  • No proprietary or web-based trading software is actively supported, restricting clients to outdated software without modern, browser-friendly alternatives.

What Can You Trade on OPENFX? (markets and instruments)

OPENFX offers a highly restricted selection of tradable instruments, limiting retail clients to basic forex pairs, index CFDs, and select commodities. The asset count is incredibly low when compared to modern multi-asset brokers that offer thousands of individual stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and cryptocurrencies:

  • Tradable assets: forex pairs, indices, precious metals, crude oil [2.1.3].
  • Cryptocurrency trading is completely unavailable on the platform, preventing traders from diversifying into digital assets.
  • Stock and equity CFDs are extremely limited or completely unconfirmed across standard accounts, leaving clients with minimal exposure to global corporate equities.
  • No ETFs, futures, options, or bonds are supported by the broker, forcing traders to look elsewhere for comprehensive portfolio diversification.

OPENFX Leverage, Margin & Order Execution

OPENFX limits maximum trading leverage to 1:200 and routes trades via an STP/ECN execution model, though users frequently report execution delays and slippage. Because the broker operates under the regulatory jurisdiction of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, leverage is strictly capped to protect retail accounts, which is a notable difference from unregulated offshore brokers [2.1.1]:

  • Maximum leverage is capped at 1:100 on Pro accounts and up to 1:200 on Premium and Invest accounts, providing moderate purchasing power while complying with regional regulatory guidelines.
  • The broker utilizes a Straight Through Processing (STP) and Electronic Communication Network (ECN) model that claims to pass trades directly to external market participants, avoiding direct conflicts of interest.
  • Execution quality remains highly questionable, with multiple independent user reviews highlighting frequent slippage, unexpected order delays, and occasional order rejections during volatile trading hours [2.1.2].
  • A strict stop-out level of 30% and a margin call of 50% are enforced to automatically liquidate positions if your account equity falls below safety thresholds.

OPENFX Research Tools & Educational Resources

OPENFX provides minimal active educational resources or research tools, as its historical training programs and guides are completely inaccessible due to its defunct website. For a broker that once marketed a multi-stage trader development program and strategic investment dashboards, the current lack of resources is a major drawback for both beginners and experienced market analysts:

  • There are no daily market analysis blogs, trading signals, or economic calendars actively maintained by the broker to assist with market research.
  • Historical webinars and one-on-one consultation services are offline, leaving new registrants with zero educational guidance or platform tutorials.
  • No advanced analytical add-ons or VPS hosting services are provided, making it difficult for automated trading systems or algorithm-based strategies to run efficiently.

How Good Is OPENFX Customer Support?

OPENFX's customer support is functionally non-existent, leaving clients unable to reach the broker via its listed Belarusian phone numbers or support emails. Although the company historically claimed to support English, Russian, and Belarusian speakers, its operational decline has left clients with no reliable communication channels:

  • Support emails are completely unresponsive, with messages sent to the broker’s official addresses (support@openfx.by and openfx@openfx.by) receiving no answers [2.1.5].
  • Listed telephone lines are dead or disconnected, meaning clients cannot contact the Minsk headquarters (+375 17 336 55 44) to resolve trading issues [2.1.5].
  • No live chat or instant messaging support is integrated onto any active portals, eliminating the possibility of real-time technical or financial assistance.

Who Is OPENFX Best For?

OPENFX is highly unsuitable for almost all retail trader profiles due to its steep $500 minimum deposit, strict trading restrictions, and defunct operational status.

Is OPENFX Good for Beginners?

No, OPENFX is a poor choice for beginner traders due to its high financial entry barrier and the complete absence of educational support. Novices typically require a platform where they can start with nominal capital (such as $10 to $50) to learn the mechanics of live markets without facing devastating losses. The broker's $500 minimum deposit requirement represents a significant barrier to entry. Furthermore, because the company’s website is inactive, beginners are completely deprived of platform tutorials, glossary guides, and active customer support to assist with the onboarding process [2.1.5].

Is OPENFX Good for Scalpers?

No, OPENFX is entirely unsuitable for scalpers and high-frequency day traders because the broker strictly prohibits scalping and hedging on all account tiers. Scalping relies on the freedom to capture tiny price movements across hundreds of trades per day, which requires rock-bottom transaction costs and flawless, near-instantaneous execution. Because OPENFX bans this strategy outright, enforces round-turn commissions that eat into small intraday profits, and experiences routine slippage and order delays, any attempt to run a high-speed scalping system on this platform will result in friction and potential account suspension [2.1.2].

Is OPENFX Good for Regulation-Focused Traders?

No, OPENFX does not meet the safety requirements of security-conscious traders due to its lack of tier-1 regulatory oversight and its current defunct operational status. Risk-averse market participants prioritize brokers overseen by stringent financial watchdogs like the FCA or ASIC, which mandate negative balance protection, client fund segregation, and state-backed investor compensation insurance. Since OPENFX operates solely under a tier-3 Belarusian framework and provides no consumer safety nets, traders who prioritize the security of their capital should look for more robustly licensed alternatives [2.1.1].

Best for: Historically, local Belarusian residents seeking basic MT4 access [2.1.1, 2.1.3].
Less ideal for: Beginners, high-frequency scalpers, day traders, and international investors seeking top-tier regulatory protection.

Compare OPENFX with Other Popular Brokers

OPENFX lacks the competitive spreads, low deposit limits, and tier-1 regulatory safety found in popular alternative brokers like FXOpen, RoboForex, and Pepperstone.

OPENFX vs FXOpen

The primary distinction between these two similarly named brokers is that FXOpen is a highly regulated, active global broker, whereas OPENFX is an inactive regional broker with single-tier NBRB licensing [1.1.2, 2.1.1]. In contrast to OPENFX's steep $500 minimum deposit and restricted manual-only execution, FXOpen offers an entry barrier of just $100 alongside strict oversight from top-tier bodies like the FCA and CySEC [1.1.2]. Furthermore, the latter supports multi-platform trading on MT4, MT5, and TickTrader, which provides much greater platform flexibility [1.1.9]. Traders will also find that commission-based trading costs are more transparent and consistently lower with the tier-1 competitor, especially since OPENFX charges up to 0.13% on premium accounts.

Takeaway: OPENFX is suitable only for regional traders requiring NBRB oversight; FXOpen is the superior choice for global safety and platform diversity.

OPENFX vs RoboForex

The most significant difference between these platforms lies in their accessibility and features, as RoboForex offers copy-trading and a low $10 entry barrier that OPENFX fails to provide. OPENFX restricts its users to traditional manual execution with a steep $500 initial funding hurdle; on the other hand, RoboForex enables instant access to CopyFX social trading with an entry deposit of just $10. In terms of platform support, the former is limited exclusively to a basic MT4 setup, whereas the latter supports MT4, MT5, cTrader, and its proprietary R StocksTrader platform. Additionally, the competitor provides negative balance protection and a broader scope of over 12,000 tradable assets, which dwarfs the basic collection of indices and forex pairs offered by the Belarusian broker.

Takeaway: OPENFX caters strictly to manual CIS traders; RoboForex is far better for social copy traders and low-budget beginners.

OPENFX vs Pepperstone

The defining contrast between these brokers is that Pepperstone offers tier-1 regulatory protection and lightning-fast ECN execution, while OPENFX suffers from operational instability and slow payout speeds. Although OPENFX imposes rigid trading restrictions that ban both scalping and hedging under a weak local license, Pepperstone actively welcomes automated strategies and scalpers under the oversight of ASIC, the FCA, and CySEC. Furthermore, the Australian competitor requires a $0 minimum deposit to open a live account, making it infinitely more accessible than the $500 entry tier enforced by the Belarusian platform. Finally, the competitor offers ultra-low spreads starting from 0.0 pips with faster, transparent execution speeds, avoiding the slippage and delayed 5-day withdrawals associated with its regional rival [2.1.2].

Takeaway: OPENFX is only relevant for regional CIS account integration; Pepperstone is the clear winner for active scalpers and algorithmic traders.

OPENFX Broker Quick Verdict

OPENFX is a reasonable regional option for Belarusian clients requiring local bank integrations, though its high $500 minimum deposit, strict trading bans, and current inactive operational status make it an incredibly risky choice for retail investors [2.1.1, 2.1.5]. Our final OPENFX review highlights these defining limitations as critical operational dealbreakers that ultimately outweigh any of the platform's basic MT4 features.

I would like to hope that the quality of services from this broker will not deteriorate. So far, I'm happy with almost everything. A bad impression was left only from the bonus promotion. But this is not particularly important. The platform works great. The withdrawal of funds works - I agree that it is slow. Support is normal.

I like the TeleTrade service. For many years now, the company has been consistently holding its brand. Spreads are not high, the return of commissions, the savings system is in force and changes only for the better. Well done TeleTrade!

In terms of service TeleTrade, the company is very cool. I have never known problems with a conclusion in the terminal, and this I think is the most important thing. Everything else is trivia.

This broker has been around for a very long time and that is why I registered an account three years ago. During this time I have become so accustomed to it that I do not want to change anything. Actually, they have only one drawback, they withdraw money slowly. It seems that they promised to solve this issue, but so far nothing has changed. The work of the trading platforms is well established. Analytics help me earn. Managers left me alone a long time ago.
