The Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV) was established under Law No. 17,811 of July 1968. In 2013, it became an autonomous agency under the Secretariat of Finance within the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance. Its current regulatory framework is based on the new Capital Markets Law.
The CNV is the official government body responsible for promoting, supervising, and regulating the securities market throughout the Argentine Republic. As an independent agency operating under the Ministry of Economy, it oversees all entities involved in the public offering of transferable securities, with core mandates that include approving public offerings, ensuring market transparency and fair price formation, promoting equal treatment and participation in capital markets, establishing mechanisms to channel savings efficiently into productive investment, and protecting the rights and interests of investors.
Through these functions, the CNV plays a central role in maintaining the integrity, stability, and development of Argentina’s capital markets.
Under Law No. 27,739, the Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV) is the authority responsible for regulating Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), entities that, as part of their business activities, carry out one or more of the following operations on behalf of or for third parties (individuals or legal entities), as defined in Article 4 bis of Law No. 25,246:
(i) exchange between virtual assets and fiat currency;(ii) exchange between one or more forms of virtual assets;
(iii) transfer of virtual assets;
(iv) custody and/or administration of virtual assets or instruments enabling control over them; and
(v) participation in and provision of financial services related to an issuer’s offering and/or sale of virtual assets.
It should be noted that the CNV’s jurisdiction is limited to these VASPs and does not extend to the regulation of virtual assets themselves, unless a virtual asset meets the criteria of a transferable security as defined in Article 2 of Law No. 26,831. Due to their technical complexity, determining whether a virtual asset qualifies as a transferable security requires a case-by-case analysis. Many such assets do not meet this definition and therefore fall outside the protections afforded by the Capital Markets Law.
Generally speaking, CNV-regulated entity profile will be found at the Buscador de Empresas y Personas. Try to find it and check if it will match the info from the broker website.
The detailed steps are as below:
1. Find the entity name, ID number or tax ID number of the broker, which you can get from the broker's website;
2. Enter the relevant info into the search bar on https://www.cnv.gov.ar/sitioweb/buscadorglobal;

When you have disputes with a CNV-regulated broker, you can proceed the following ways:
1st way: The recommended way is to contact the broker directly and discuss with them to find a solution.
2nd way: If you're not satisfied with the broker's solution, try to contact Argentina CNV, which aims at solving the disputes between the forex broker and the investor.
Complaints may be mailed to Argentina CNV at:
Address: 25 de Mayo 175, CABA
Postal Code: 1002
Submit an online complaint form: https://www.cnv.gov.ar/SitioWeb/Denuncias
3rd way: If the 2 ways above can't solve the dispute, the last way is to issue a case to the court in Argentina.
