7 hours ago BrokersView

The Singapore Police Force (SPF), together with the French National Police’s International Security Cooperation Directorate, the UAE Ministry of Interior, and the International Security Alliance, has launched the Anti-Scam Conference 2026 in Singapore under the theme “United Against Scams”.

The three-day conference brings together representatives from more than 20 countries across Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, alongside international organisations and industry partners, to strengthen cooperation against transnational scam syndicates and cybercrime.

Singapore authorities said the conference focuses on improving international partnerships, sharing operational insights, and exploring how technology can be used to combat evolving scam threats. Discussions also cover the increasing use of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and cross-border networks by criminal groups.

According to SPF, the force has worked with over 190 local and international partners since the establishment of its Anti-Scam Centre in 2019, helping recover more than S$730 million for scam victims through rapid intervention and intelligence sharing.

During the conference, Singapore’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, Goh Pei Ming, announced that the SPF will establish a new Cyber Command in the second half of 2026 to strengthen the country’s response to scams and cybercrime.

The new command will consolidate the SPF’s cybercrime, anti-scam, intelligence, and investigation capabilities under a unified structure. Authorities said the Cyber Command will include a new Cyber Operations Centre focused on proactively detecting and disrupting online criminal activities, including phishing campaigns and scam infrastructure.

The Anti-Scam Centre will also be expanded to enhance cryptocurrency tracing and asset recovery capabilities. SPF added that the command will focus on intelligence-led investigations targeting transnational cybercrime syndicates involved in ransomware, malware, and scam operations.

Singapore Police said the Cyber Command will also deepen partnerships with international law enforcement agencies and private sector stakeholders while expanding recruitment and specialist training for cybercrime officers and National Service Cybercrime Operators.
