Proprietary Trading Platform Topstep Users' Personal Information Leaked

The UK-based proprietary trading platform Topstep recently notified some users that their personal information, including names and Social Security numbers, may have been compromised in a cyberattack last September.

Affected Topstep users received a letter indicating the breach was linked to a "distributed denial-of-service" (DDoS) attack in 2025. Following a comprehensive internal review, the platform discovered on December 3 that specific files containing personal information may have been accessed without authorization between September 8 and October 16 last year.

However, Topstep's support team emphasized that the company bears no responsibility for this data breach. The platform stated via social media platform X that the incident stemmed from some traders using duplicate passwords on non-Topstep websites that had previously experienced data breaches.

Topstep is reportedly providing free credit monitoring services to affected customers.
