NZ FMA Warns of Suspected Recovery Scam Blu Spring Financials, Flags Numerous Associated Websites
The Financial Markets Authority of New Zealand (NZ FMA) has issued a warning urging extreme caution regarding Blu Spring Financials, following investor reports linking the entity to a suspected recovery and advance fee scam.
Connection to Epic FX Trade
Authorities suspect Blu Spring Financials is connected to a previous cryptocurrency trading scam operated by Epic FX Trade. An individual approached New Zealanders on Instagram, encouraging them to engage with both entities.
One victim reported that Epic FX Trade provided fake cryptocurrencies as supposed investment returns before its website was taken down. He was then directed to Blu Spring Financials, which purportedly could assist in the transfer of funds allegedly recovered from Epic FX Trade.
However, before processing promised transfers or withdrawals, Blu Spring Financials demanded significant advance fees, including "IMF clearance" and "COT authorization." Despite making these payments, the victim never received the promised funds.
The FMA’s investigation revealed that Blu Spring Financials markets itself as “a prominent international banking institution”. However, the entity does not operate from its listed address, and no credible evidence supports its legitimacy.
NZ FMA flags numerous websites
The FMA identified that multiple websites may be linked to this fraudulent network, and warned that the scammers could change their name, website, or social media presence to continue targeting victims.
