The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) of New Zealand has issued a public warning regarding a series of newly identified fake online trading platforms.
According to the FMA, these deceptive platforms masquerade as legitimate cryptocurrency and forex services providers but are part of a broader investment scam designed to lure unsuspecting investors.
To appear credible, the operators behind these sites may provide counterfeit certificates bearing the names and logos of overseas financial regulators.
The FMA’s alert follows a report from a victim who was unable to withdraw funds from one of these trading platforms.
The regulator has published a list of websites and entities confirmed to be involved in the fraudulent scheme. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution when engaging with these platforms.
