John Austin Departs Capital.com After Strategy Leadership Role

Mar 31, 2026 BrokersView

John Austin has left Capital.com after nearly two and a half years as Chief Strategy Officer, marking another senior-level change at the retail brokerage.

Based in London, Austin joined the firm in late 2023 and combined his strategy mandate with responsibilities as Dealing Director. During his tenure, he oversaw trading operations, including pricing and hedging frameworks, while contributing to broader business development initiatives as the broker expanded its multi-asset derivatives offering.

Prior to Capital.com, Austin served as Chief Strategy Officer at LMAX Group, where he focused on exchange and MTF development, liquidity strategy, and institutional crypto initiatives.

He spent the bulk of his career at IG Group, holding a range of senior roles including Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Analytics Officer. During his time there, he was involved in key projects such as the acquisition of DailyFX, the development of the Nadex platform in the US, and the launch of the Spectrum trading venue. He also served as CEO of IG Group’s US operations and held interim leadership roles at Nadex in Chicago.

Austin’s departure comes as Capital.com continues to scale globally. The broker has been building out its presence in Asia and is currently working toward licensing in Singapore, alongside ongoing hiring across risk and compliance functions.

The move follows other recent hires at the firm, including the appointment of Prishani Maheeph-Moonsamy as Head of Compliance for South Africa, reflecting continued investment in regulatory and operational leadership as the company expands.
