Italy's Companies and Exchange Commission (CONSOB) has ordered the blocking of five websites involved in illegal investment activities or promoting unauthorized trading platforms. One of the targeted sites reportedly misused the image of President Sergio Mattarella and referenced Italian energy companies, raising concerns over misleading advertising and identity misuse.
The websites targeted by CONSOB are:
Freetradeeuropa.com - including related pages at clientarea.platform-trade247.com and web-trader.platform-trade247.com
Safecap - safecapinv.com and client.safecapinv.com
Bosonalfa-ai - bosonalfa-ai.com and portal.tradingfxapp.me
GlobalMarketsIC - glblmrktsic.com, cab.glblmrktsic.com, and linked advertising site il-petrolio-italiano.it
The regulator has previously acted against websites making illegal references to the President of the Republic, signaling an ongoing effort to protect investors from fraudulent schemes and unauthorized platforms.
Under powers granted by the Growth Decree and the Capital Law, CONSOB instructed Italian internet service providers to block access to the offending sites. Technical implementation may take a few days, depending on provider operations.
Since July 2019, when CONSOB gained the authority to order website blocks for abusive financial intermediaries, a total of 1,522 websites have been blocked. The latest actions continue CONSOB's strategy to safeguard investors and ensure that only authorized platforms provide financial services, especially in the increasingly digital and online trading environment.
