The Hong Kong regulator, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), has added four new suspicious websites to its Alert List. Some falsely claim links to licensed intermediaries, display counterfeit regulatory credentials, or request sensitive personal and banking information from users. Investors are strongly advised to verify any company or individual against the SFC’s public register before engaging in financial transactions.
The SFC emphasizes that unsolicited investment offers, online platforms, or mobile apps claiming regulatory approval but absent from its official register should be treated as fraudulent. Suspicious activity should be reported immediately. Investors should never provide passwords, personal identification, or transfer funds to unlicensed operators.
BrokersView urged the public to verify investment information through official sources, remain cautious of unsolicited recommendations, and report suspicious activity or the Police’s Anti-Deception Coordination Centre.
