HFM Appoints Technology Executive Georgios Papassavas as CEO, Reflecting Industry Shift Toward Tech Leadership

1 hour ago BrokersView

HFM has appointed Georgios Papassavas as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for the broker and highlighting a growing trend of technology executives moving into top management roles across the trading industry.

Papassavas officially took over as CEO in February after nearly a decade with HFM, where he previously served as Chief Information Officer, overseeing the company’s technology infrastructure and digital development.

Before joining HFM, Papassavas built his career in software engineering, starting at Amdocs in 2008 and later leading financial technology teams at FxPro.

Formerly known as HotForex, HFM rebranded in 2022 as part of its expansion from a traditional forex-focused broker into a broader multi-asset trading provider.

The appointment also reflects a wider industry trend, with technology leaders increasingly stepping into executive positions. Recently, Australian broker Eightcap promoted its technology chief Bryn Newell to CEO, following a similar path.

As artificial intelligence and automation reshape financial markets, brokers are placing greater emphasis on technology capabilities. The rise of generative AI and AI-driven trading tools is changing how traders access data, execute trades, and interact with platforms.

Industry observers believe executives with strong technology backgrounds will play an increasingly important role as brokers compete in a rapidly evolving digital trading environment.
