A former chief analyst of the defunct algorithmic broker Utrade has been extradited from Mexico to Israel, according to Israeli media reports. Roi Kuzin had been on the run for seven years before being arrested in Mexico in July last year following an Interpol request.
Kuzin was extradited to Israel last Thursday and appeared before a Tel Aviv magistrates' court on Friday, where his detention was extended.
According to the indictment cited by Israeli media, Kuzin served as Utrade's chief analyst between 2012 and 2015, working under Aviv Talmor, the company's former chief executive who has since been convicted. Prosecutors allege that during this period, the binary options broker fraudulently raised tens of millions of shekels from approximately 600 clients.
The indictment states that Utrade misled clients about how their funds were used and presented fictitious performance data, including fabricated historical returns. The company claimed annual returns of tens of percent, allegedly generated by a profitable trading algorithm, which prosecutors say did not reflect reality.
In January 2023, the Tel Aviv District Court sentenced Talmor to four years in prison for fraudulently obtaining 77 million shekels from clients under aggravating circumstances. Authorities said Talmor personally developed the company's product and business strategy, positioning Utrade as a successful algorithmic brokerage.
Talmor was arrested in 2016. Shortly after being questioned under caution that same year, Kuzin left Israel. In 2018, criminal charges were filed against Kuzin and other company employees, and he was declared an international fugitive.
After years of searches across multiple countries, Kuzin was arrested in Mexico in July 2025. His extradition to Israel was completed last week, bringing him back to face proceedings related to the Utrade case.
