Pros & Cons
Pros
  • Regulated as a Capital Markets Services licensee by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), ensuring top-tier regulatory oversight and strong protection for client funds.
  • Operates on a No Dealing Desk (NDD) execution model, pulling liquidity directly from a deep aggregator pool to eliminate broker-client conflicts of interest.
  • Requires a $0 minimum deposit to open a live account, making it highly accessible for retail traders to start trading without upfront capital pressure.
  • Supports regional local payment methods including FAST, PayNow, and Multi-Currency e-Pay, allowing Singaporean and Southeast Asian clients to fund their accounts smoothly without incurring high currency conversion charges.
  • Offers a minimum trade size of 1 micro lot (1,000 units), providing excellent position-sizing flexibility for beginners practicing risk management with smaller balances.
  • Backed by the massive regional financial presence of Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank), providing institutional-grade stability and peace of mind regarding broker solvency.
Cons
  • Does not support industry-standard MT4 or MT5 platforms, restricting traders to proprietary systems (Forex SG and Maybank Trade) and preventing the use of existing custom indicators or Expert Advisors (EAs).
  • Offers a relatively limited selection of around 40 to 50 currency pairs, reducing the trading opportunities available to those looking to speculate on exotic or minor pairs.
  • Imposes a strict daily 10-minute trading blackout period split between market open and close, preventing continuous 24/5 market execution during potentially volatile rollover hours.
  • Features higher-than-average spreads compared to specialized low-spread ECN brokers, making it less economical for short-term scalping and high-frequency trading strategies.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) review

What Is Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex)? Company Background

Maybank Kim Eng traces its origins to Kim Eng Securities, a prominent Singaporean stockbroking firm established in 1972 [3.1.4]. In 2011, the company was fully acquired by Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank), the largest financial services group in Malaysia and a top-tier bank in the ASEAN region [2.2.3, 2.2.4]. Following a major group-wide restructuring in late 2021, Maybank Kim Eng was formally rebranded as Maybank Securities [2.2.3].

Under this corporate umbrella, "KE Forex" (marketed as Maybank Forex) and "KE CFD" represent the dedicated foreign exchange and contracts-for-difference divisions of the group [1.1.3]. Unlike independent retail brokerages that operate purely online, KE Forex leverages the massive institutional liquidity and operational stability of its multi-billion-dollar parent bank [2.2.4]. The division serves retail, accredited, and institutional investors across key global markets from its regional headquarters in Singapore [2.2.4, 3.1.5].

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Regulation

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore [1.2.4]. This regulatory body is classified as a top-tier financial authority known for strict regulatory oversight [1.1.8]. You can access the Monetary Authority of Singapore official financial institutions directory to confirm the broker’s regulatory status. Simply search for Maybank Securities Pte. Ltd. or license number UEN 197201256N to verify their active Capital Markets Services license [1.2.4].

The table below outlines the regulatory entities, license numbers, and protection details associated with Maybank's brokerage operations [1.2.4].

While Singapore-based traders receive premium capital safeguards under the MAS-regulated entity, retail clients should note that leveraged forex accounts do not have access to an overarching statutory compensation fund in the event of broker default [1.1.8].

Which Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Entity Serves Your Region?

  • Regulatory Onboarding: Unlike typical retail CFD brokers that redirect international clients to offshore subsidiaries in tax havens like Vanuatu or the Bahamas, Maybank Kim Eng maintains a strictly regulated onboarding model [2.1.5].
  • Onboarding Differences: Users seeking to trade leveraged forex via KE Forex are onboarded directly under Maybank Securities Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, ensuring all accounts are protected under the Singapore Securities and Futures Act (SFA) [1.2.4].
  • Investor Protection Differences: Because there are no offshore entities utilized for retail forex accounts, clients benefit from high-level regulatory protections but must comply with strict regional guidelines.
  • Offshore vs. Regulated Onboarding: Onboarding via a tier-1 regulated entity ensures your trading counterparty is a stable, audit-vetted institution, though this eliminates the option for ultra-high leverage limits commonly offered by offshore brokers [1.1.8].

Restricted Countries

  • Unsupported Jurisdictions: Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) does not accept retail forex or CFD clients residing in the United States, Canada, Japan, North Korea, Iran, or other internationally sanctioned countries.
  • Local Regulatory Limitations: The broker complies strictly with cross-border marketing regulations and does not actively solicit or onboard retail clients from jurisdictions where local licensing is required but not held.

Client Fund Protection

  • Segregated Trust Accounts: All client funds are fully segregated from the broker's own operational capital and placed in designated client trust accounts held with top-tier licensed banks [1.1.8].
  • No Co-mingling of Assets: Your funds cannot be used by the broker to cover operational expenses, satisfy institutional debts, or hedge proprietary market positions.
  • Institutional Parent Backing: As the brokerage division of Malayan Banking Berhad, KE Forex is supported by one of ASEAN’s most well-capitalized banking institutions, which drastically minimizes any risk of structural insolvency [2.2.4].
  • Rigorous Risk Audits: The Monetary Authority of Singapore mandates continuous financial auditing, daily equity reconciliations, and strict capital adequacy ratios to ensure long-term balance sheet health [1.1.8].

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) User Reviews and Trustpilot Rating

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) holds a Trustpilot rating of 3.0/5 based on 4 reviews, reflecting a neutral or average user sentiment as of June 2026, though this highly limited feedback fails to capture the broker’s massive institutional footprint in Southeast Asia. Because traditional, bank-backed brokerages in Singapore primarily onboard clients through in-person branches or local banking portals, they rarely invite or incentivize users to leave feedback on Western-dominated, retail-facing platforms.

For a complete perspective on how retail traders rate their experience with this institution, you can See Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) reviews on Trustpilot.

To provide a realistic overview, we analyzed user comments across localized Singapore financial forums, app stores, and customer service platforms [3.1.1, 3.2.7].

Recurring Positive Points:

  • Institutional Safety and Trust: Users express very high confidence in fund safety, repeatedly noting that trading with a division of Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) removes the exit-scam or bankruptcy risks associated with offshore retail brokers.
  • No Conflict of Interest: Active traders praise the No Dealing Desk (NDD) Straight-Through Processing (STP) model of the KE Forex platform, which passes orders directly to liquidity providers and eliminates broker intervention.

Recurring Complaints:

  • Dated Mobile Interface: A frequent complaint among smartphone users is that the KE Forex SG mobile application is functionally rigid, occasionally suffers from login lag, and lacks the slick UI of modern fintech competitors.
  • Demanding Account Requirements: Many prospective traders criticize the high entry barrier, noting that the S$3,000 (or $3,000 USD) initial deposit requirement is far too restrictive compared to retail platforms that allow $50 or $100 entry limits.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Account Types

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) provides a commission-free, no-minimum-deposit Forex account with leverage up to 50x, but its companion CFD accounts demand a steep SGD 3,000 initial funding barrier.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Account Types and Minimum Deposit Requirements

Unlike standard online CFD brokers that offer a confusing array of micro, standard, and raw-spread accounts, Maybank Securities streamlines its leveraged trading services into two distinct account types:

  • KE Forex Account (Leveraged FX): This account features a $0 minimum deposit requirement, allowing traders to open an account without upfront financial commitments. However, you must deposit sufficient capital to cover the margin for the minimum trade size of 1 micro lot (1,000 units of the base currency). For example, opening a 1 micro lot GBP/USD position with a 5% margin requirement requires a minimum of GBP 50 (roughly USD 65) of free equity.
  • Maybank CFD Account: This companion account requires a strict initial deposit of SGD 3,000 before any market orders can be placed. It is specifically designed for retail clients wishing to short or go long on global equities and stock indices with up to 10x leverage.

The table below breaks down the primary trading specifications of these account structures.

Feature / SpecificationKE Forex AccountMaybank CFD Account
Minimum Initial DepositS$0 (Requires margin for 1,000 units)S$3,000
Trading Commission$0 (Spread-only)Varies by asset class (S$25 minimum for SG equities)
Maximum LeverageUp to 50x (1:50)Up to 10x (1:10) for equities
Minimum Trade Size1 Micro Lot (1,000 units)1 CFD contract
Execution ModelNo Dealing Desk (NDD) / STPDirect Market Access (DMA)
Base CurrenciesSGD, USDSGD, USD, HKD, AUD, GBP, EUR

What These Specifications Mean in Practice:

  • Low Entry Barrier for Currency Traders: The S$0 minimum deposit for the Forex account makes it highly accessible for retail participants looking to dip their toes into leveraged currency markets.
  • High Barrier for Equity CFD Traders: The S$3,000 initial funding limit on the CFD account reflects Maybank's focus on sophisticated, well-capitalized retail investors rather than casual hobbyists.
  • Conservative Leverage Constraints: A maximum leverage of 1:50 for currencies and 1:10 for stocks aligns with strict MAS investor protection guidelines, which effectively prevents traders from taking on reckless overnight risk.
  • Institutional Execution Quality: Both accounts bypass market-maker conflict; the Forex account uses a pure NDD STP model, and the CFD account uses Direct Market Access (DMA) to route orders directly to live stock exchanges.

Does Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Offer an Islamic Account?

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) does not offer swap-free or Shariah-compliant Islamic accounts for its foreign exchange or CFD trading platforms. Because the broker operates on a transparent Straight-Through Processing (STP) model, all open positions held past 5:00 PM EST automatically incur or earn overnight interest (swaps). Since Shariah law strictly prohibits any form of interest accumulation (riba), Muslim traders seeking a dedicated Islamic trading account will need to look to alternative international retail brokers.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Fees and Trading Costs

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex)'s trading costs are structured on a commission-free basis for forex pairs, though the embedded spreads are wider than those of standard retail CFD brokers.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Trading Fees (Spreads / Commission Fees / Swap and Overnight Fees)

  • Spread-Only Forex Pricing: Leveraged foreign exchange transactions on the KE Forex platform are processed under a spread-only pricing model with zero commissions. Typical spreads under normal market conditions are wider than average retail brokerages, with EUR/JPY starting around 2.0 pips, NZD/USD at 1.8 pips, and cross-currency pairs like EUR/NZD averaging 4.1 pips.
  • Equity CFD Commissions: Unlike the commission-free forex accounts, equity CFD trading is subject to clear commission rates based on the underlying market. Singapore share CFDs attract a commission of 0.25% with a minimum fee of SGD 15 per transaction, while US stock CFDs are priced at 0.22% with a minimum charge of USD 15.
  • Overnight Financing (Swaps): Open positions carried past the daily 5:00 PM EST market close are subject to standard interest rollover rates (swaps). For currency pairs, traders pay or receive interest depending on the yield differentials of the two currencies, whereas stock CFDs incur a financing fee computed as the benchmark Interbank Rate (such as SIBOR for SGD or SOFR for USD) plus or minus a 3.5% broker markup.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Non-Trading Fees (Inactivity Fees / Currency Conversion Fees)

  • No Inactivity Fees: The broker does not charge any monthly maintenance or inactivity fees for idle accounts. This policy is highly beneficial for casual or low-frequency traders who wish to keep their accounts open without incurring ongoing penalty fees.
  • Currency Conversion Markup: Converting funds between different account base currencies is processed at the broker's real-time counter rates, which typically carry an institutional spread. However, clients can significantly mitigate these conversion costs by using the complimentary Multi-Currency e-Pay payment service.
  • Corporate Action Handling Fees: Traditional account administration fees, such as cash dividend processing and cash offers for local shares, are completely waived. However, rights issuances for non-Singaporean equities attract an administrative handling charge of SGD 15 per event.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Deposits & Withdrawals (Deposit and Withdrawal Methods / Withdrawal Speed and Minimum Limits / Deposit and Withdrawal Fees / Withdrawal Issues and User Complaints)

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) provides straightforward and fee-free local funding options for retail clients, although international wire transfers can attract standard banking commissions and processing delays.

For local traders in Singapore, deposits are exceptionally convenient and can be completed via several channels. The primary payment methods include Multi-Currency e-Pay, local FAST bank transfers, Telegraphic Transfer (TT) to the broker's HSBC Singapore custodian account, and physical cheques. There are absolutely no deposit fees for local bank transfers or e-payments.

Withdrawal processing is highly efficient and reliable. If a withdrawal request is submitted to Maybank Securities before 12:00 PM on a working day, it is processed and approved within 2 business days. Withdrawals via local bank transfer to a Singapore dollar account are entirely free, and there is no strict minimum withdrawal limit enforced by the broker. However, international outward remittances via Telegraphic Transfer (TT) attract standard banking costs, which include an administrative processing fee of SGD 20 and a 0.125% transfer commission (minimum SGD 20, maximum SGD 100), along with standard foreign exchange commission in lieu of exchange (CILE).

To prevent money laundering and comply with strict MAS guidelines, Maybank strictly prohibits all third-party deposits and withdrawals. Funds must originate from, and be returned to, a bank account that is registered under the exact same name as the Maybank trading account.

A thorough search across online financial forums, regulatory portals, and community sites reveals no genuine, systemic user complaints or unresolved issues regarding withdrawals. This spotless record is expected of a major, tier-1 bank-backed financial institution, ensuring traders have peace of mind that their requests will be honored securely and professionally without the artificial delays often seen at unregulated offshore firms.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Trading Platforms, Conditions & Experience

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) utilizes a proprietary execution interface and specialized mobile applications rather than the mainstream MT4 or MT5 terminals, delivering high-tier Direct Market Access to institutional and serious retail traders.

Does Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Support MT4, MT5 & Mobile Trading?

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) does not provide standard MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) retail terminals, opting instead for its proprietary KE Forex SG desktop and mobile platform. • Maybank Trade SG App: This comprehensive, multi-asset mobile app is designed for investors looking to seamlessly manage stocks, ETFs, and CFD portfolios under a single interface.
  • KE Forex Desktop Web Platform: This browser-based terminal serves as the desktop anchor, providing advanced technical indicators, Fibonacci drawing tools, customizable workspace widgets, and historical tick data.
  • Institutional MT4 Liquidity Bridge: This specialized connectivity solution is reserved exclusively for institutional clients who operate their own MT4 servers and wish to route bulk order flows directly into Maybank’s deep ECN liquidity pools.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Leverage, Margin & Order Execution

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) operates a non-dealing desk (NDD) Straight-Through Processing execution model with leverage up to 50x for forex and 10x for equity CFDs. This operational setup guarantees highly transparent pricing and strict compliance with tier-1 regulatory guidelines:

  • No Dealing Desk (NDD) Forex Model: The KE Forex platform operates a strict NDD Straight-Through Processing (STP) model, meaning the broker never acts as a market maker or trades against your positions.
  • Direct Market Access (DMA) CFD Model: Equity CFDs are routed directly to underlying stock exchanges, ensuring that prices align exactly with the live order books of physical exchanges and completely eliminating synthetic price re-quotes.
  • Leverage Limits and Margin Requirements: Forex leverage is capped at up to 50x (2% margin requirement) for qualifying accounts, while standard stock CFDs are limited to a maximum of 10x leverage (10% margin requirement).
  • Flexible Micro-Lot Trading: The minimum trade size for foreign exchange is set at 1 micro lot (1,000 units of the base currency), making it highly manageable to scale positions without massive capital exposure.

How Good Is Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Customer Support?

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) delivers highly professional, bank-backed telephone and email support during local market hours, though it lacks 24/7 instant live chat features. Unlike many modern, online-only retail brokers that rely entirely on automated chatbots and offshore helpdesks, Maybank provides access to licensed, locally based trading representatives:

  • Dedicated Leveraged FX Support: Currency traders can bypass generic help lines by calling the direct Leveraged FX Hotline at (65) 6231 5577 or emailing the specialist team at MSecSG_keforex@maybank.com.
  • Emergency Execution Desk: In the event of platform outages or internet connectivity failures, traders can execute manual phone orders or request emergency position closures via the Execution Desk at (65) 6533 6739.

Who Is Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Best For?

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is best suited for safety-conscious investors and institutional-tier traders who prioritize bank-backed security over razor-thin retail spreads or automated trading tools.

Is Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Good for Safety-First and Regulation-Focused Traders?

Yes, Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is one of the most secure options available globally for safety-first traders because of its direct backing by Malayan Banking Berhad and strict MAS regulation. Unlike typical retail brokers operating out of offshore tax havens, Maybank provides a level of capital protection and structural safety that only a major, systemically important regional bank can offer. While smaller retail platforms frequently present risks of insolvency or opaque execution, Maybank's segregated banking infrastructure guarantees absolute financial transparency. This makes it an ideal partner for high-net-worth individuals, corporate entities, and risk-averse investors who require institutional credibility above all else.

Is Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Good for High-Frequency Scalpers?

No, Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is not a suitable platform for high-frequency scalpers due to its wider-than-average currency spreads and lack of support for automated trading advisors. Scalping relies on ultra-low raw spreads—often averaging 0.0 to 0.4 pips on major pairs—paired with retail platforms like MT4 or MT5 that support custom Expert Advisors (EAs). Because Maybank’s commission-free forex spreads start significantly wider and its proprietary platforms do not support external retail algorithmic scripts, high-frequency manual or automated trading would quickly prove unprofitable under these pricing conditions.

Is Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Good for Multi-Asset Swing Traders?

Yes, Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is highly suitable for multi-asset swing traders who maintain longer holding periods and seek to diversify across global equities, stock CFDs, and currencies. Swing traders are far less sensitive to minor spread variations and instead value execution transparency, extensive market access, and robust portfolio tracking. Through the unified Maybank Trade environment, swing traders can easily transition capital between spot forex, local share CFDs, and physical global equities across 28 exchanges. Furthermore, the complete absence of inactivity fees accommodates longer holding cycles, ensuring idle account balances are not slowly eroded by administrative penalties.

  • Best for: Safety-first institutional investors, regional ASEAN traders, and multi-asset swing traders who require a single, bank-backed portfolio hub.
  • Less ideal for: High-frequency scalpers, retail MT4/MT5 algorithmic traders, and budget-restricted beginners who require raw-spread accounts.

Compare Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) with Other Popular Brokers

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) stands apart from modern digital competitors by prioritizing bank-backed institutional safety over discount commission structures and high-leverage offerings.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) vs Interactive Brokers

The biggest difference between these two brokers is that [Interactive Brokers](https://testfb.tostar.top/cn/brokersview/brokers/Interactive Brokers) offers exceptionally low, market-rate currency conversion spreads and discount commission structures, whereas Maybank Kim Eng relies on a traditional bank-markup pricing model. While Maybank's forex pricing is completely commission-free with spreads starting around 1.8 to 2.0 pips, Interactive Brokers charges a minute commission of just 0.08% to 0.20% in exchange for raw, near-zero interbank spreads. Additionally, the minimum entry requirement for Maybank’s CFD account is a rigid SGD 3,000; on the other hand, Interactive Brokers has eliminated minimum deposits entirely for standard retail accounts. In terms of platform usability, Maybank relies on its proprietary KE Forex SG interface, which is vastly simpler but far less powerful than Interactive Brokers' institutional-grade Trader Workstation (TWS) terminal.

  • Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is the better choice for local Singapore bank integration; Interactive Brokers suits cost-sensitive day traders more.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) vs Saxo Markets

The primary distinction between the two platforms is that [Saxo Markets](https://testfb.tostar.top/cn/brokersview/brokers/Saxo Markets) provides a highly modern, multi-tier digital trading experience with lower entry spreads, while Maybank Kim Eng offers premium local banking integration and physical advisory branches. For forex traders, Saxo Markets utilizes a raw-spread-plus-commission pricing model on its higher tiers that often yields lower overall transaction costs than Maybank’s commission-free spreads. Regarding account entry, Saxo requires no initial funding for its basic Classic account tier; contrastingly, Maybank CFD traders must meet a SGD 3,000 threshold. Furthermore, Saxo operates entirely through a streamlined web-native ecosystem; on the other hand, Maybank maintains physical Customer Service Centres in Singapore where clients can get face-to-face assistance.

  • Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is the better choice for face-to-face client support; Saxo Markets suits tech-focused retail investors more.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) vs IG Markets

The core difference is that [IG Markets](https://testfb.tostar.top/cn/brokersview/brokers/IG Markets) is a specialized, retail-focused CFD and forex giant offering industry-leading platform choices like MT4, whereas Maybank Kim Eng is a bank-backed multi-asset investment broker centered on proprietary platforms. While IG Markets caters to high-frequency retail traders by offering average spreads of 0.6 pips on EUR/USD and integration with MT4, Maybank provides wider spreads and limits retail forex traders to its proprietary KE Forex SG application. IG also supports a wider selection of over 17,000 tradable CFD markets with low initial deposit limits; by contrast, Maybank’s CFD division focuses on a tighter list of regional Asian and major global equities. However, Maybank holds a distinct safety advantage because it is directly backed by one of ASEAN's largest banking networks, which provides a significantly stronger capital cushion than a standalone retail broker.

  • Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) is the better choice for maximum capital security; IG Markets suits high-frequency retail traders more.

Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) Broker Quick Verdict

Our Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) review concludes that the broker is a premier choice for risk-averse investors who demand bank-backed financial safety and strict MAS regulation, though it remains less suitable for active day traders due to its wider retail spreads and proprietary platform limitations. Ultimately, the platform trades off discount retail pricing in favor of premium institutional-grade asset security.

Editorial Transparency: This Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) review is based on information from the official Maybank Kim Eng (Ke Forex) website, current regulatory filings, and independent third-party sources such as Trustpilot. We cross-checked the broker's regulation and license details, account types, trading and non-trading fees, deposit and withdrawal terms, platforms, and real user feedback to ensure accuracy and objectivity. Been using them for quite a few years. Like their customer service. But the commission is a bit pricey for SG Market. But I think it's the same for other brokerage offering SG Clearing to CDP. Trading Platform, I think it is ok but charting tool can be better. I like their stock alert system which sends sms to my phone.

Good broker, since they are constantly improving their service, over the past six months they have launched crypto trading and new ways of replenishment. As for the trading conditions, they are the same as those of the leading representatives of the market.

I would like to note that the company offers the most favorable trading conditions. The leverage is available up to 1:2000. I'll notice by 2000. Spreads on ECN accounts start from 0.
